Housing Seniors
About Us
Powell River Sunset Homes Society has been providing safe affordable housing for seniors since 1957. The Society owns and manages 12 apartment units in the original Centennial Homes building; 10 units in MacGregor Place and 11 units in Leishman Lodge. Most recently in 2022 the Society completed the building of 34 more units in an efficient, modern building in the centre of Powell River.
All apartments are pet-friendly so tenants can have their furry companion with them. (We actually encourage it.)
Rents range from well below-market for the smallest Studio Apartments (tenants must qualify as low income); One Bedroom Apartments (various range of rents); and Two Bedroom Apartments (various range of rents.) Our model is very equitable with tenants who have more financial stability paying higher rents than our more vulnerable seniors who are on a small fixed income.
There is a lengthy waiting list but people are not always ready to move when we contact them when an apartment becomes available so it never hurts to get on the waiting list.
We prioritize those seniors who are without stable/safe housing or are most at risk of losing their housing to get them housed.
